Alexander Hunenko was a refugee after World War II, living in Austrian camps. In 1950, he immigrated to the United States and in 1956, he became a United States citizen. In the 1960s, he traveled extensively throughout Europe, covering approximate 55,000 miles by automobile.
Hunenko received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the Yale University School of Art. His exhibiting record includes shows at venues such as the Paul Mellon Arts Center Gallery in Wallingford, Connecticut, Davenport Studio 56 Gallery at Yale University, in New Haven, Connecticut, and the Southern Connecticut State University Art Gallery, also in New Haven, Connecticut. Hunenko’s works are in numerous collections, including those of the Yale University Art Gallery, the Walker Art Center, and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
