Debut Concert by Brothers Mykhailenko

Please join us Sunday, January 15th at 1:00pm for the debut concert by the Mykhailenko Brothers. The concert will consist of music of Classical and Ukrainian composers.

Entrance fee: $10

All proceeds will go to Help Heroes of Ukraine.

Nazarii Mykhailenko, 22, baritone

Born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, Nazarii Mykhailenko has been involved in music since the age of nine. He successfully joined the Kyiv Lysenko State Music Lyceum, where he studied a range of disciplines including music theory, piano, choral conducting, and classical voice. After immigrating to the United States in 2017, Nazarii quickly became highly involved in his high school’s music program. He won a place in the ILMEA All-State Choir in 2018 and participated in the Chicago Master Singers Choir outside of school. He lives in Wood Dale, Illinois, and studies at Roosevelt University, pursuing a double major in Music Education and Classical Voice Performance. Nazarii have taught privately piano and some voice while working at the Music Conservatory of Illinois in Evanston. He is also continually involved in various music ensembles, and choirs, and continues performing regularly while studying voice with his university teacher Mark Crayton. Currently, Nazarii is enthusiastic about choral conducting and worked as a Student Conductor Intern in NaperVoice- new philanthropic choir in Naperville.


Myroslav Mykhailenko, 18 years old, was formerly a scholarship Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy, a training center for advanced pre-college musicians. He studied piano with José-Ramon Mendez. Myroslav was born in Ukraine, Kyiv, and began playing piano at the age of 6. He attended the Kyiv Secondary Specialized Music School for gifted musicians. During his piano studies, he was featured twice in the White Hall of the House of Scientists in Kyiv and performed numerous times across other venues in Ukraine. He also won first prize in “Concours International de Piano Ville de Gagny 2017” in France. At the age of 13, Myroslav and his family immigrated to the United States of America. Upon his arrival in the U.S., Myroslav was determined to continue his piano studies. He studied with Lyudmila Lakisova, and in 2018 received an honorable mention in the 2018 Crain-Maling Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition. Myroslav additionally won top honors in such competitions as the 2017 Sejong Music Competition and Walgreens National Concerto Competition. To this day, Myroslav has had masterclasses with many prominent teachers and artists, including Marian Hahn, Logan Skelton, Daniel Shapiro, Michael Brown, and Shai Wosner. The most prominent festival in which he participated twice was a music festival called Manhattan in the Mountains, New York. Some other festivals included the Chicago Chamber Music Workshop and Palmetto International Piano Festival at Erskine College. Myroslav had an opportunity to arrange and perform his solo recital with the assistance of “Young Steinway Concert Series 2018-2019” on April 7, 2019. In addition to performing solo, Myroslav enjoys playing chamber music. He was part of the intensive chamber program at MYAC (Midwest Young Artists Conservatory), becoming the Overall Winner of “MYA Discover National Concerto Competition” in 2019. The trio has later gone on to participate in the Fischoff Competition. Another Myroslav’s group, Dando Piano Trio, has won the first prize at the Tenth Annual 2022 A.N. & Pearl G. Barnett Chamber Music Competition in Chicago. Currently, Myroslav studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Music with Benjamin Pasternack.
