Bison skull, clay, found objects, acrylic, epoxy

22x23x11”

These pieces were born during a two-year inquiry regarding the concept of original sin. It continues now as exploration of our broken-ness. Under the cruel bearing of this pandemic, our destruction is confronted. Previously unseen damage to our internal and external environments – both social and natural - have been exposed. The buffalo is my slate, my canvas. And in these particular pieces, mammalian structures – teeth and bone – are laid bare. Still, there are glimmers of healing. All is not lost. There is beauty and hope when our best selves surface - as we help one another navigate our mortality and loss.
