Position: Curatorial Assistant
Type: Part-time (20 hours per week)
About Us:
The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art (UIMA) preserves and promotes contemporary art as a shared expression of the Ukrainian and American experience, also with an emphasis on local Chicago artists. UIMA develops, utilizes and encourages artistic talent through exhibitions, concerts, readings, lectures and films to serve the cultural needs of our community and city, and thereby strengthen cultural understanding and diversity.
Position Description:
The Curatorial Assistant is responsible for a variety of curatorial and administrative duties such as managing contacts and correspondence with artists and guest curators, new acquisition assistance, budget tracking, assisting with the coordination of didactic materials and exhibition documentation, installation preparations, website development (related to curatorial projects and collection information) writing and editing curatorial-related copy, and occasional collection management and research.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Art or Art History, Museum Studies
2+ years comprehensive administrative work, museum or arts organization experience required
Graphic Design experience preferred
Photography skills preferred
