Experience the Power of Culture with UIMA: Screening of the Film "Bucha"

Watch the Trailer:

"Without its culture, there is no nation."

The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art (UIMA) continues to champion this powerful message by presenting the critically acclaimed film Bucha. This screening, with English subtitles, underscores the indispensable role of culture—especially film—in resisting the aggression from Putin’s regime.

We are honored to welcome back Oleksandr Shchur, the screenwriter and producer of Bucha. Oleksandr was our keynote speaker and honoree at the UIMA Annual Benefit Gala. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear him speak about the film and engage in a thought-provoking Q&A session following the screening.

Before the screening UIMA will host a lovely reception, offering a chance for attendees to connect and share friendships.

Bucha is a feature drama based on the harrowing true events that took place in Bucha, Vorzel, and Hostomel (Kyiv region) during the Russian occupation in the early months of the war, February-March 2022. The film follows the journey of Konstantin Gudauskas, a Kazakhstani citizen who found asylum in Ukraine and made Bucha his home. Faced with the horrors of war, Konstantin takes a stand against Russian aggression, leading Ukrainian civilians to safety. Through his courageous actions, Konstantin not only saves lives but also bears witness to the devastating realities of occupation.

Join us at UIMA for this compelling cinematic experience that highlights the resilience of culture in the face of adversity.
