My new works created during these past six months follow my process of combining disparate objects, juxtaposing found natural objects with manufactured ones to create new hybrid forms. Most of the objects retain traces of their previous lives yet also evoke unexpected qualities—figurative, conceptual, and experiential. Thus, the experience of commonplace found objects in their transformed state offers viewers an occasion to place themselves within the flow of transformation and to contemplate ways that interconnectedness and impermanence suffuse everyday life. More than ever they emphasize the shifting distinctions between strength and vulnerability, permanence and decay, and the extraordinary and the mundane.
