Mary Fedden
Mary Fedden studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, England between 1932 and 1936. Upon the completion of her studies, she taught painting at the Royal College of Art in London, England between 1958 and 1964, where she was the first woman to teach in the painting department. Between 1965 and 1970, Fedden taught art at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey, England.
Since 1950, Fedden has regularly exhibited at Redfern Gallery and New Grafton Gallery in London, England. A major exhibition of her work was held at the Royal West of England Academy in 1996, which she was president of between 1984 and 1988.
Fedden received an honorary doctorate from the University of Bath. She was also awarded an O.B.E. (Order of the British Empire) and a degree from the University of Durham in 2009 for her work.
