Oleksandr Dubovyk
Oleksandr Dubovyk graduated from Kyiv Art Institite in Ukraine in 1957. Shortly after, he joined the prestigious Painters Union. Between 1959 and 1962, he was a professor at the Kyiv School of Applied Art. Between 1962 and 1965, Dubovyk attended the Arts Academy of the USSR in Moscow, Russia, where he completed his postgraduate studies. For the next two decades, Dubovyk was not able to participate in any official exhibitions in the Soviet Union because his art did not align with the official style of Socialist Realism.
Later in his career, Dubovyk found success and became a leading artist, participating in a number of regional and foreign exhibitions, and created many monumental works. He also published multiple theoretical works. Dubovyk’s work is found in private collections in Austria, Canada, France, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United States.
