Tune in for a conversation on Chicago craft in the 1970s-80s with some of the city's long-standing artists and activists, including Lourdes Guerrero, artist and educator; Indira Freitas Johnson, artist, educator and community activist; Arlene Raconcay, former director of the Chicago Artists Coalition; Fern Shaffer, artist and former director of Artemisia Gallery, Yaroslava "Lialia" Kuchma, artist and Ani Afshar.
Discussion covers barriers faced by marginalized artists and connections to current art practices. Recorded January 21, 2023. Supported by the Terra Foundation Art Design Chicago.
Collection by seven artists exploring grief through various media including painting, print-making, fibers, ceramics, photography, installation, and video. Artists transform objects from loved ones into artworks or use ritual and natural materials as memorials.
Holiday fundraising event recorded December 11th at St. Nicholas Catholic Cathedral. Choral groups from Lithuanian, Polish, Swedish, Croatian, and Ukrainian communities performed. Proceeds donated to Help Heroes of Ukraine and UMANA IL.
