On yet another chilling winter day here in Chicago, the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art hosted its first 2014 art exhibit opening with well over 150 visitors in attendance.

Survival, Spirit, Dreams, Nightmares depicts culture, ethnicity, survival and the power of the human spirit in overcoming adversity. Four Chicago artists – Rene Hugo Arceo, Mark Nelson, Yohanan Petrovsky-Shtern, and recent ex-Chicagoan Peter Dallos draw from different life journeys, relaying stories through work in a variety of media, including paintings, prints and sculptures.

The exhibit runs through March 30th, 2014
